Yes, it is that time of the year again. What films were enjoyable and what are hidden in the back of the room. The year 2025 is the science fiction/horror year with several interesting films and those to be watched on Halloween Night at 3 a.m.
Here are my picks for 2025. Enjoy going to the movies or watching films at home. Either is a pleasure and takes one to excitement, intrigue, laughter and perhaps, seeing a film again.
The Ten Best Films of 2025 in Alphabetical Order
David---PG---Great animation and sound track accompanying the story of the Biblical David. Will there be a Part 2? Hopefully.
Downton Abbey---PG 13---The Saga ends on a mannerly form with grace and dignity as befits a Manor.
F 1 ---Brad Pitt and race cars just go together over the Finish Line.-
Good Boy—PG 13---The dog should win an Oscar for his portrayal. The term “love” has new meaning Bring handkerchief.
Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning---R---Tom Cruise goes over the top and then some in this film with action sequences that will turn your hair grey. Top notch entertainment. Will there be more?
My Sunshine---PG---Beautifully filmed story of two young figure skaters training for competition. Set in Japan, teenage emotions are explored.
Nuremberg---R---Russell Crowe walks away with the role of Hermann Goring, a Nazi high officer who is now on trial after WWII. A cat and mouse game between prisoner and the law.
Sinners---R---wouldn’t be complete list without a supernatural film and this one has a new note.
Sketch---PG---clever story of a girl’s sketch book that goes awry and suddenly there are monsters everywhere. Take a second look before getting into a school bus.
The Last Rodeo---Story of the love of a grandfather for his ill grandson. Rodeo sequences are well played and so is acting and action in the arena.
Also included are:
How To Train Your Dragon----PG---a remake on the large screen and no one complains about this one. It is a delight both in story, music, and animation.
The Friend---PG 13----bring handkerchief for this film about the friendship between a dog and two owners. Love knows no boundaries.
Rule Breakers---PG---Based on a true story of educating young women in the Middle East where computers and mathematics are forbidden.

Here are the Ten Worst Films of 2025. There are a quantity of films going in and out of theaters in the wisp of an eye, and here are a few of them.
After The Hunt---R---the intricacy of emotions in an office setting. Falls apart in a hurry.
Burgonia---R---what a storyline that seems to have come from the Buck Rogers series almost a century ago.
Friendship---what’s with bothersome neighbors? That is a film theme this year. Leave well enough alone.
Happy Gilmore---so long to remake this film? Another case of leaving something alone in the film room.
I Know What You Did---R---so does everyone in the known universe by this time. Forget it.
M3GAN 2.0---R---Bringing back something for a second run seems to be on the chart this year. Best left alone.
Old Guy---R---two assassins and neither knows what to do. Try another script.
The Monkey—R----take off on an old story and it should have stayed there.
The Roses----R---supposedly a remake of “War of the Roses” but the petals have fallen off the script.
Tron: Ares---PG 13---trying to remake the pleasure of the first “Tron” film and never quite doing it.

Independent Films did well this past year and here are four films that stand out.
Box Cutter---PG 13---a wonderful display of music against a background of Toronto, Canada and trying to retrieve something valuable that was stolen.
My Sunshine---PG---A film from Japan featuring teen ice skaters hoping to go to the big time in that sport. Background music is special and so is photography.
Rule Breakers---PG---true story of oppression of the education of young women in some Middle Eastern countries. Determination wins.
The French Italian---PG 13---what to do when you have noisy neighbors, but then, what happens if your plan backfires?
