To be honest, I didn’t really know that much about Icon For Hire when I signed up to review the CD. I did some research and found out this album was a huge hit for the band and they are already working on a follow-up. I also see that they are often compared to Paramore, Flyleaf, and other similar bands. I can see those artists as a point of comparison, but Icon For Hire also seems to have their own spin on that modern rock/nu punk metal sound. Maybe it is the electronic elements that are found throughout the album. Regardless of influences the songs are catchy and filled with passion and energy. The look of the band is certainly more edgy and punk than anything you will see on modern rock radio. While I can’t claim to be a fan of the genre as a whole, I count myself as a fan of Icon For Hire and will be looking forward to their next album when it comes out.
