Beautiful Gray Day by LeperLeper returns with the next evolution of their orchestrated gothic rock industrial music.

Title: Beautiful Gray Day
Artist: Leper
Label: Grrrr! Records
Time: 12 tracks/52:55 min.

The music of Leper is more than a bit difficult to pin down. The band mostly centers on gothic music, but there are strong acoustic and industrial influences injected throughout. Enough to pull them way out of the gothic genre, but not completely… and not enough to put them squarely into any other genres. I would venture to say that different people will like different songs on this album for different reasons. Some songs like “Cosa Vuole Dire Morire” rock out, while others like “Perseguita” are about mood and setting. The online bio for this release mentions how the songs are “orchestrated” – which is a very accurate way to describe this. There is a cohesion and atmosphere to the entire album that is obviously intentional. But not a stereotypical goth or industrial vibe – something different. I really enjoy original releases like this, especially because they are hard to put in a box.
