Inspired by such musicians as Jack Bruce & Keith Jarrett this collection of twelve improvised pieces is somewhat reminiscent of the piano release that Charlie Peacock put out a few years ago.
The Remembering
Artist: Dave Bainbridge
Tracks: 12
Time: 48 Minutes
In 1995 Tim Harries, the bass player at the time for the band Iona planted in the mind of band leader Dave Bainbridge the idea of doing a solo piano album. Twenty one years later that idea has come to fruition.
Consisting of twelve piano improvisations the album entitled "The Remembering" is a wonderful and wonder filled collection from an artist who I have to confess is my favorite musician on the planet. I have been dealing with artists who are Christians for almost forty years now and in the process have become quite cynical. The older I get the less patient and tolerant I am of musicians who claim to be in a unique relationship with the Master Creator of art and yet continue to release what can only be described as sub-standard material. Dave Bainbridge is not one of those musicians!!!
Inspired by such musicians as Jack Bruce & Keith Jarrett this collection of twelve improvised pieces is somewhat reminiscent of the piano release that Charlie Peacock put out a few years ago. Although, at least to my mind, not strictly a jazz album the improvisational nature of the inPidual pieces have a jazz feel to them.
The album is a delight from start to finish conjuring up so many mental pictures that make it a sonic journey to many far and distant places.
On a spiritual note, Dave's music never fails to make me realize that true art is the gift of a loving and thoughtful God who deeply cares for his creation and blesses it with glimpses into eternity filled with wonder and awe. On an strictly earthly note, this is just one amazing collection of music.
