While not exactly a joyful Christmas album made to lift spirits, the Holiday EP is both fun and insightful while taking a sometimes-satirical sometimes-serious look at the Christmas holiday.

Fiction Family, collaboration between Jon Foreman of Switchfoot and Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, released their Christmas EP in 2012. This EP is again available through Noisetrade for free or for a small donation. Just in time for Christmas and for a little fun listening!
A bouncing, light, and jestful romantic look at being with the one you love at Christmas kicks off the Holiday EP with “I Don’t Need No Santa Claus”. In 2013, Fiction Family released their Reunion album containing the following two tracks which were originally released on this EP in 2012. “Up Against The Wall” and “Damaged” are well written and performed relationship songs perfect for soul searching during the holiday season.
With slow but deliberate progression, this live version of “We Ride” from their self-titled first album lives and breaths. “Don’t Say You Love Me,” tells of a relationship ended with playful lyrics and direct melody. “My Forgetful Baby” rounds out the EP with a hot blues slide and lyrics to match. The recorded conversation at the end of the tune shows the playfulness of the band.
While not exactly a joyful Christmas album made to lift spirits, the Holiday EP is both fun and insightful while taking a sometimes-satirical sometimes-serious look at the Christmas holiday.
