Now, if you like your Christmas music smooth and mellow, "Repossession" will be a revelation. If you like heavy metal in any way, shape or form, this is for you. The traditional carols such as “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” and “Mary Did You Know” are given imaginative guitar and percussion treatment and in the mix are the lyrics. I remember reviewing a Christmas CD several years ago that had the traditional carols played with aboriginal instruments including a bead gourd. It was unusual and interesting at the same time.
My favorites include Theocracy’s “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” with an steadiness about it that something is coming, indeed. Pastor Brad has creative guitar on “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen” and Royal Anguish’s “Mary Did You Know” is finely honed. Leper’s “O Holy Night” and Kekal’s version of “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” would make wrapping Christmas presents pleasant to do. All in all, Christmas music has something for everyone and many ways of expressing it. "Repossession" is one of them. Happy Holidaze.
