Label:            Big Mind/Black Swan Sounds
Release Date: May 6, 2014
Duration:        9 tracks, 46:52

Eccodeck’s sixth release, Singing In Tongues, continues to impress with true world music sounds touching on Middle East, to African, to South American. Adding to this impressive sound is a host of collaborative influences from hip-hop’s MC Yogi to LA-based drummer Morgan Doctor. While Eccodek is known for its electronica, this collection shows seductive acoustic balance and highly emotional offerings.

While “Village In Me” has the Chicano-like feel of related ‘70s music, “In Confidence” showcases a complicated and stirring melody. “My Primitive Heart” has acoustic backing with light percussion and slight electronica mixing English and Spanish lyrics which so accurately display the refrain ‘love is a mystery’. “In My Tribe” is similar in presence with an earthy quality. “Permission To Speak” puts a final touch to the album with haunting melody.

Singing In Tongues captures a world sound effortlessly putting the listener in a unique place emotionally and geographically.
