Bride - Skin for Skin 2. A recent Bride offering gets facelift that showcases a band that still has some momentum left in their creative batteries.

Title: Skin for Skin + 2
Artist: Bride
Label: Retroactive Records
Time: 16 tracks/1:02:26 min.

Can anyone tell me why I missed this album when it first came out? I know that most people tend to like some albums by Bride more than others, but all of us that count ourselves as fans at least give each album a listen. Skin for Skin kind of just sat there as a hole in my collection that I neglected to fill, but now that I have heard it I am thinking it might become one of my favorite Bride releases of the past two decades.

In that time period, Bride seems to go back and forth between heavy energy and laidback groove with most albums. Skin for Skin is more on the heavy energy side of their sound. I can’t comment on how this re-issue sounds when compared to the original, but all I can say is that it sounds great now due to the re-mastering skills of J. Powell.

The bonus tracks are some older demos that were part of the mp3 collection discs the band sold at one time. While it is nice to finally hear these rare songs, they also aren’t really songs I will come back to much in the future. So if you are a fan of the heavier side of Bride, this is an album for you to check out.
