Veggie Tales Hosanna! Today's Top Worship Songs for Kids

Big Idea

Normally, I am a fan of what Big Idea does – messages for kids that are kept at a high enough level as not to be annoying to the parents that are submitted to repeated viewings. Their CDs, however, tend to leave me cold, and unfortunately, Hosanna! is no exception.

Ten modern worship songs are included. Most listeners will be familiar with the songs, if not the delivery. The best here are the songs where other singers are brought in – Amy Grant on "Hosanna," Mark Hall of Casting Crowns on "Who Am I." The tunes featuring Veggie Tales voices do not fare well – "Your Grace is Enough" (Larry the Cucumber), and "Amazing Grace" are to the point of being grating, and "Our God" doesn't even try to stay in tune. To a trained ear, this detracts from the message of the songs. Recommended for younger fans only – as in grade school.
