tpt-90pxThe Crossing - October/November 2012

Yo! Hey! Welcome back to yet another edition of America’s favorite yet least known new music and movie release list. Don’t ask me how that works. It’s complicated.

This is roughly a month away, but I want to give a heads up to everybody’s favorite Day of the Year, that’s right Friday, November 23rd aka ‘Black Friday’! Yay! Can Ihear a yay? Yippee!

That’s when the entire country drives around like lunatics trying to get the best bargains on all things merchandise-wise. Or, at least, those who choose to participate. Just want to shine a light on the ‘special releases’ brought to you by the good folks who are in league with Record Store Day. To find out what is available on that day, again, roughly a month off, check out the link below:

Major releases and not-so-major releases continue to trickle out into the Public Arena-proper. Time to get your mitts on these suckers. Maybe you have been doing that. Actually a TON of music and movies have already been released but there are still a few things here and there that may catch your eyes and ears. The year is basically winding down into the black hole that is December when artists are either at home and nestled in their beds OR are hitting the highway touring all over the country and most likely freezing certain unspecified body parts.

Who’s to say what’s a major release? Who’s to say what’s a not-so-major release? I know, some of the not-so-major releases are actually major releases and some of the releases that would seem to be major releases are in fact, not-so-major releases. And sometimes the releases that you think are going to be for sure, certain major releases are really just another release, while the releases that are perceived to be not-so-major releases become major releases. It’s quite a formula how all of this works and I don’t think we have the time to go into it at just this moment.

“So, give me an R! R. Give me an O! O. Give me a C! C. Give me a K! K. What’s you got? ROCK! And what’s you gonna do? ROCK YOU!”

To quote the great Canadian metal band Helix!

LYRICS of the MONTH:

“You carry me around
Like loose change jingle-jangling
At the bottom of your bag
You don't seem to feel it though
As you swing down the street
Walking that unique birthday-candle glow

In broad daylight
In broad daylight

And you don't even know
The way I love you

You never knew power, did you?
You thought that power was in a strong arm
People pass the laws and gold
Tsunamis and mushroom clouds

Oh babe that's nothing

You think it's kinda sweet
The stammer and the tremble in my voice
But don't mistake it for weakness
Or some kind of incompleteness
'Cause round about now
I can feel it tingle-tangling
It's coiled up inside me
And it's ready to blow

You never knew power, did you?
Thought it fizzed in the overhead lines
Burning steel and bone to carbon
Saturn 5 in vertical climb

You never knew power, did you?
Thought it roared like Niagra Falls
Or melted stone under volcanoes
Earthquake thunder lightning storms

The way I love you
Is something you don't understand
The way I love you
Took more than I could imagine, even now
You never knew power
All the time you felt so strong

But now you can't function
Awake or asleep
As the meaningless world falls away from your feet
And the Universe ceases it's light-speed retreat
Life was sweet in the meteor shower
Of the star-high divine
When you sparkled and fell
From heaven to hell

And ten years grinding by in every hour
In every hour
I know all about power

Listen to the rain
You might feel a tremble
You might feel it.”

Steve Hogarth (Marillion), the song “Power” from the album Sounds That Can’t Be Made released this month.

Happy Halloween everybody! And Happy Thanksgiving too if I don’t get back to you all before then!

See you in December or there-abouts…
