tpt-90px"You can't kill rock n roll"

The Crossing - July/August/September 2014
https://www.facebook.com/TheCrossingMusicMovies

Let's recount what we know:

"Rock n roll ain't noise pollution" - AC/DC

"You can't stop rock n roll" - Twisted Sister

"You can't kill rock n roll" - Ozzy Osbourne

"You can still rock in America" - Night Ranger

"Cities (are) on flame with rock n roll" - Blue Oyster Cult

"I wanna rock n roll all night and party every day" - KISS

"God is the rock that makes me roll" - Stryper

"God gave rock n roll to you" - KISS

"Long live rock n roll" - Rainbow

"Let it rock. Let it roll. Let it go" - Def Leppard

"Things go better with rock" - Autograph

"There's only one way to rock" - Sammy Hagar (I've never been entirely convinced of that, but maybe.)

"I wanna rock" - Twisted Sister

"Rock n Roll!" - Led Zeppelin

"For those about to rock, we (I personally, if I could) salute you" - AC/DC

and

“The world is collapsing around our ears, I turned up the radio” - R.E.M.

"It's the end of the world as we know it, and (we don't feel particularly fine about it)" - R.E.M.

Those last two there just to make you think a little more.

So, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, what exactly are you getting at? What is this business of rock n roll? What can we learn from this vast entity known as rock n roll?

Well, it's far too complicated to get into without going into grave and significant detail. And frankly we don't have all day to get into that.

Because you can't stop rock n roll, I wouldn't have the wherewithal to stand in the way of it and be able to explain it.

So, the best thing to do in these circumstances is to just get out of the way and let the rock roll accordingly...

LYRICS of the MONTH:

Captures our times pretty well...
"Shadow people, what's in their head?
In the car next to you, when the light turns red
Could be thinking of love, might be thinking of hate
I guess it pretty much could go either way
Shadow people, in shadow land
That one's thinking of great art
And eloquent words
That one's strapped on a gun
And joined up with the herd
That one's savin' up water
Got some food stored away
For the war that is coming on judgement day
Shadow people, in shadow land
And this one carries a gun for the USA
He's a 21st Century man
And he's scary as hell
'Cause when he's afraid
He'll destroy everything he don't understand
Well I ain't on the left
And I ain't on the right
I ain't even sure
I got a dog in this fight
In my time of need
In my time of grief
I feel like a shadow's falling over me
Like shadow people, in shadow land
Shadow people, in shadow land
Waiting for the sun to be straight overhead
'Til we ain't got no shadow at all."

Tom Petty, the song "Shadow People" from the album Hypnotic Eye.

With all the hurting going on in the world, I thought this next song could bear a repeat:

"And you asked me what I want this year
And I'll try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe
We'll find better days
'Cause I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
Designer love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe
We'll find better days
So take these words
And sing out loud
'Cause tonight's the night
The world begins again
I need someplace simple where we could live
And something only you could give
And that's Faith and Trust and Peace while we're Alive
And the one poor child who saved this world
There's 10 million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them
I wish everyone was loved tonight
And somehow stop this endless fight
Just a chance that maybe
We'll find better days."

John Rzeznik of The Goo Goo Dolls, the song "Better Days" from the album Let Love In released in 2006.

Keep Rockin'!!

Peace!!
