![]() Becoming the Answer to Our Prayers Author: Shane Claiborne and Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove # of Pages: 124 Publisher: InterVarsity Press ISBN: 978-0-8308-3622-2 Becoming the Answer to Our Prayers is an exploration of how our prayers help us to figure out what it is that God wants us to do and how to expect that it is done. The authors take a look at several prayers in the Bible and help you to see deeper into them, to get the true meaning of that prayer and act as though God longs for us to. As a whole the authors help us to realize that we need to put action to our prayers. The book is broken up into 3 parts-----Part 1 is about The Lord’s PrayerThis part helps us to see that we are children of God, He adopted us into His family and we (as Christians) are one family. We should take care of each other as though we are all family no matter of race, nationality, financial status, etc… It helps us to see that we need to reconcile one to another as well as to the Father. Part 2 is about the prayer in John 17this is the prayer Jesus prayed right before His death. It teaches us how God means to introduce a new kingdom into the world, how we are to be set apart from the patterns of this world, and for us to be one as God is one, and Part 3 is about the Ephesians 1:15-23 prayerthis is the prayer that Paul wrote and prayed to the church at EphesusPaul’s cry is one that you should come to know what you are called to do and do it. Grab hold of the vision God has for your life, which you get through spending time with God in prayer and reading the Word. Then share God’s plan with the world! This is a prayer about personal growth. Throughout this book you get candid and personal stories from the authors’ lives and churches. These two definitely have lived what they are teaching in this book. All through this book on thing resounds loudlythis is the time for Christians everywhere, no matter what race, nationality, financial status, creed, or doctrine, to pull together and be the hands and feet of God. We need to get on our knees and be willing to get our hands dirty working and praying for our fellow man. To be fellow labors together with Christ! Just like it says in the introduction to the book “Prayer is not so much about convincing God to do what we want God to do as it is about convincing ourselves to do what God wants us to do.” I recommend this book to every person in the world; we all need to read it! It is a must read! Go out and buy your copy today, and buy some extra to give away as you see fit!!!!!! Trish Cooper
