Sometimes you just need a heaping helpin’ of slightly southern-fried faith-based rip-roaring rock ‘n’ roll.  DecembeRadio provide the prescription for that hankering on their sophomore Slanted Records release Satisfied.  These guys came out of nowhere with their 2006 debut that earned them both Dove and Grammy nods.  Obviously there is interest in the CCM community for DecembeRadio’s flavor of raucous classic-style rock anthems.  Fans of Third Day, The Black Crowes, Guardian, Petra, with a bit of King’s X grooving will enjoy Satisfied.

While DecembeRadio don’t blaze any new trails on _Satisfied_ in either the lyrical area (too over-familiar…check out “Believer” or “Falling for You”), or in the musical arena there is no doubt they can rock mightily on LP and live.  Satisfied is an overall solid rock listen, full of anthemic hooks and fist pumping, smile on your face faith moments (“Better Man,” “Gasoline,” and the somewhat funky “Powerful Thing” ).  And this just might be why these guys seem to have found a loving audience.

Just like any good arena-rock album worth its salt, Satisfied features several noteworthy lighter in the air ballads full of sing-along lyrics (“For Your Glory” and “Look for Me”).  Kudos to the band for including a hidden jam track that showcases the fact that the band is tight and has some interesting musical ideas.

DecembeRadio are not the most original band in Christian Rock.  It would be nice to see them expand these somewhat short songs and work in some additional lyrical creativity in future projects.  But make no mistake, DecembeRadio will rock your face off.  Sometimes that is all you need!
