May 2005 Top 10

The Phantom Tollbooth votes for the May 2005 survey are cast, tabulated, and now reported--with, for the first time in quite awhile, no ties! There was some intriguing shuffling with the results. Dropping out of this month's survey are Sonia V, Out of Eden, Ollabelle, Stephen Delopolous and Blind Boys of Alabama. Newcomers are Over the Rhine (Drunkard's Prayer makes a splendid debut at the third slot), (returnee) U2 with How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, Mae's The Everglow, Ben Folds, and Eisley. Bill Mallonee has two entries: last month's top vote-getter and at number two this month, Friendly Fire, and second runner-up, Locket Full of Moonlight SF59, in a three-way number five tie last month, vaults to the top slot, Ashley Cleveland's Men and Angels Say slips two notches, as does Roper's Brace Yourself for the Mediocre. For the second month in a row, Reese Roper's former band, Five Iron Frenzy, is still close to registering enough votes for a Top 10 inclusion. Remember that every vote counts, and we'd love to hear what you're listening to in June, so keep those PDAs and note pads busy! Here are the results of the May 2005 Top 10 survey:
