About

About

We are an on-line magazine that publishes a wide range of album, concert, book, and movie reviews, interviews, features, and resource links. We began in December 1996 and our monthly readership now numbers over thirty thousand.

Our staff of over 100 writers is committed to reviewing quality music in a timely and professional manner. We're always looking for the best in mainstream and underground music. We jealously guard our reputation for journalistic integrity. While many artist web sites and several on-line music stores link to our reviews, we do not sell ads, assuring the neutrality of our work.

We are indebted to author Norton Juster for our name, The Phantom Tollbooth.

Expectations

"Expectations is the place you must always go to before you get to where you're going. Of course, some people never go beyond Expectations..."

Mathematics
"...for one of the nicest things about mathematics, or anything else you might care to learn, is that many of the things which can never be, often are. You see it's very much like your trying to reach Infinity. You know that it's there, but you just don't know where-but just because you can never reach it doesn't mean that it's not worth looking for."
(Quotes from the original The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster)

In 2012,  The Phantom Tollbooth is celebrating the 50th anniversary of our publication's namesake.

This article is a nice, in-depth piece about Norton Juster and Jules Feiffer, how they met, how they collaborated, their friendship and upcoming versions of TPT, http://www.gazettenet.com/http://www.gazettenet.com/2011/10/27/a-fabled-friendship
